[00:03:00] Wendi: Again, it would mean a lot to me. So today’s topic, let’s get right into today’s show. So today we are talking about the reasons for decision making. The four main reasons why it’s so important to just make decisions. And as you guys may know being in the military is all about making decisions every single moment, right?
[00:03:23] Wendi: We even have a military decision making process There’s a process for when it comes to making decisions in the military. There’s a process because it’s important it’s very important to make a decision so that we are able to execute, so that we’re able to accomplish a mission. Right? So why is it that it’s so much harder to make decisions for our personal lives?
[00:03:52] Wendi: Personal decisions, personal life changing decisions. And you guys, it could even be as [00:04:00] Simple as a simple decision that you make every single day, right? Like what time are you going to wake up? Are you going to wake up 10 minutes earlier because you don’t want to rush in the morning? Or whatever it may be, right?
[00:04:13] Wendi: Like having your clothes ready the night prior is making a decision ahead of time so that you are not rushing again the next morning because we all know that there will always be traffic early in the morning regardless of what time you leave. Of course, unless you’re leaving at like 3 30 in the morning or 4 in the morning, then most likely there won’t be much of a hassle to get to the gate or to work.
[00:04:38] Wendi: But. Even if they are simple decisions that you make on a daily basis, the four main reasons I will talk about today for decision making are very important because they will help you. Execute and get to where you want and create what you [00:05:00] want in your life. Get to the goals, the goals that you’ve always wanted, the changes that you’ve wanted to make.
[00:05:06] Wendi: So I’m gonna go over the four reasons and after this episode, you will not only start making more decisions on your own, but you will actually be more intentional with it. So, if… You aren’t driving. This is the time to start taking notes. But if you’re driving, it’s completely okay. Just listen to the podcast, listen to this episode and come back and write these down.
[00:05:34] Wendi: Because again, I want you to be safe. And I also really want you to take the time to consider these main reasons because it’s so important when it comes to getting things done, when it comes to going after the life that you truly want. Okay, so reason number one. You will save. When you make a decision, you’re saving time.
[00:05:56] Wendi: You aren’t continuously thinking [00:06:00] about that decision that you need to make. So for example, going to the promotion board. If you decide In that moment, it literally takes less than a second to decide if yes or no, if you’re going to the board. So if you decide or whatever it may be getting out of the military, getting into a relationship, getting out of a relationship, getting married, going through a divorce, buying a house, transitioning, filling out a resume, going for that degree, whatever it may be.
[00:06:34] Wendi: If you decide yes or no, you make a decision right now, you’re saving yourself so much time. You’re not going to reconsider if you’re going to make a decision or not later that day, later that week, later that month, because now you’re, you’re wasting time unconsciously. So first reason is it will save you time.
[00:06:59] Wendi: Second [00:07:00] reason is growth. You will start to grow. In a different capacity, you will now be building the skill of making decisions, making decisions in a timely manner. So you’ll start growing as an individual and building that skill. Of making a decision without having to wait much longer on a yes or no, or you’re going on land, or you’re just going to sit back and not do anything at all, regardless of what your circumstance may be, right?
[00:07:35] Wendi: It could be you transitioning out of the military. It could be even just going to a certain concert, going to that party, going to an event, whatever it may be. It helps you grow by building that skill of just making a decision. Number three, it helps you build confidence, confidence in the decision that you have made.
[00:07:59] Wendi: It’s [00:08:00] going to give you that assurance that based on the decision that you just made in that moment, either again, going through your transition, submitting a packet, submitting that resume, that application, getting into a new relationship. Getting married, getting divorced, or whatever it may be. Whatever that Circumstance, that situation, that decision that you’re making, you are building more confidence because now You are Assured that based on that yes or no, now you can move on to the next thing.
[00:08:40] Wendi: Now you can move on to the next step. Okay, I already decided that I will go to the promotion board. Now Because I decided that I’m gonna go to the promotion board. Now I can decide that I’m going to study and Go all in on Making sure that I am ready for this promotion board or for this transition or for this new job opportunity, [00:09:00] new career, new relationship I’m Getting ready to let go of this bad habit I’m done with over drinking.
[00:09:09] Wendi: I’m done with overspending, whatever it may be. When you decide, now you can go to the next step and feel more confident that you will start getting prepared, that you will make another decision and another one and another one. So that’s number three. Number four, the last one is you make progress towards the change.
[00:09:31] Wendi: That you want making progress just means making more decisions over and over again, right? Without having to wait for the right moment, without having to rely on the circumstances, your circumstances to control those desires, or even the belief that what if it doesn’t work? Or what if this decision isn’t the right one?
[00:09:53] Wendi: We always have these stories of I’m not going to make this decision because I don’t know if it’s the correct one the right one [00:10:00] Instead you can just make the decision and go all in on that simple decision that you can make in this moment. So remembering that the four main reasons for decision making is that it it will save you time It will allow you to grow build that skill build confidence and make Progress towards the change that you want that will allow you to make more decisions over and over and over again because remember you want to make a decision from your prefrontal cortex, which is our Our mind that helps us plan for the future.
[00:10:43] Wendi: Our mind that helps us stay conscious. Our mind that does intentional thinking and which by the way, the only part of the brain that the humans have. So there’s no such thing as wrong decision or waiting on a decision because you waiting is you [00:11:00] not making a decision. So everything is going to happen the way it’s supposed to be meant to be.
[00:11:07] Wendi: In remembering that life is always going to be 50 50 either way if you do make that decision right now or if you wait But which one would you rather or what side would you rather be on? Would you want to waste time or do you want to save time? How do you how do you want to make decisions? Do you want to consider?
[00:11:29] Wendi: Everything without limits. Would you make that decision again? Would you try something different or would you go for the status quo? What if the outcome is great either way? What if the result, that progress that you make, even if it’s small, what if it’s great either way, regardless of the decision that you make, all you have to do in this moment is just decide, decide even when the negative emotions arise.
[00:11:58] Wendi: Right? When the [00:12:00] uncertainty, when the doubt comes up, deciding even then, deciding over and over again so that you can keep moving forward and making progress, focusing on what you can control, which is your mind, your thinking, and trusting yourself, trusting that you are making the right decision at that moment.
[00:12:22] Wendi: Because the only wrong decision that you can make is not deciding to make one. So don’t be intimidated. By the big decisions you have to make, instead thrive on them and create the life that you truly desire. The goals that you want, the things that you want to achieve, keep chasing your purpose. Keep creating what you truly want in this moment by deciding.
[00:12:52] Wendi: So remember the four reasons, the four main reasons for decision making, saving time, growth. builds [00:13:00] confidence, and it helps you make progress towards the changes that you want in your life. All right, you guys, this is all that I have for you today. Thank you for listening in. And remember, someday isn’t a day on the calendar.
[00:13:14] Wendi: So decide to make progress in your life.
