Wendi: [00:00:00] Hello, and welcome to episode 237. So today’s topic is all about being intentional. And this could be with your time, with your relationships, with anything in your life, with your job, with your career, with your team, with your soldiers, Marines airmen. Being intentional in a part of your life. And most importantly, being able to identify what exactly. You are focusing on. And listen, this is something that I struggled a lot when it came to being present and being there. More specifically, like for my kids. And so we have this nature of multitasking.
This is what we learned in the military, right? Like this is something that we do all the time and there’s nothing wrong with that. I want to let you know that there’s nothing wrong with that. But I also want to encourage you to be intentional in that moment either. When you’re spending [00:01:00] time with your kiddos when you’re spending time in your relationships at work to simply focus on that, or if you’re focusing right now on planning out your. Uh, military transition or your next career role. I want you to take the time to focus on that.
Literally focused at the amount of time. If it’s starting minutes, 45 minutes, 10 minutes to simply do that, don’t allow any distractions. Don’t allow anyone to interfere with their priorities because that happens too. And. It may just be a me problem, but I know I also have struggled with putting other people’s priorities in front of mine. And not to say that. You know, obviously if your kids come to you and they have a problem or they want to talk to you and you know, it’s urgent, of course, by all means focus on them, but only focus on them and don’t be focusing on multitasking right. Doing your work or, focusing on your career, transition or applying or doing a resume. While you’re trying to focus on giving them your attention. And the reason I [00:02:00] want to emphasize this is because I’ve witnessed myself do this in a way where I start to multitask. But I also have noticed it with my past clients. Where they’re like, oh, I haven’t finished this one item, this resume, or haven’t worked on. You know what the assignment was because they’ve allowed all other distractions to come into play. So today, I just want to remind you to be intentional with the time that you do have, because listen, I know it’s limited. I know that you, um, and this is what I mean by being limited. Meaning that you have other things that you need to take care of. We all have the same amount of 24 hours. We all are able to do what we can with the amount of time that we have. But I also want to emphasize and be compassionate in a, in a way where I know that as a woman. As a mom. As a caregiver, there’s always someone needing our attention as the leader, right.
There’s always something happening in the background. And so today, I just want to encourage you to set time intentionally for whatever that goal that you have or [00:03:00] that task that you want to accomplish. Just be intentional. And trust me, it’s going to go a long way. And I also want to invite you if you were transitioning out of the military or if you’re thinking about the transition and you’re like, I have no idea where to begin.
I want to invite you to come join me on LinkedIn. Live audio. Meaning that it’s only an audio event. You won’t be able to see me, but you’ll be able to hear me and come join me over tomorrow. Or actually you will get this. Um, hopefully you listen to this. Right before I go live on September 18th at 1:00 PM Eastern standard time. It’s all about learning the key insights of identifying your role after the military. So this is going to be a great conversation and I want to share with you, and I want you to learn kind of like what to look for when you are transitioning out of the military, or you’re looking for another opportunity in the civilian sector. All right.
That’s all that I have for you today. Go out there and be intentional with the time that you do have go be intentional and be able to focus on one thing at a time. All right. I hope this was helpful. Have a beautiful rest of your week.
